Mail Server Information Paston Chase Norwich

Our customers fall into two categories, who require mail server information for Paston Chase Norwich:

  • those that use a PASTON email address (such as johnsmith@paston.co.uk)
  • those that have their own domain name (such as marysmith@yourdomainname.co.uk)

and the instructions are slightly different. Please refer to the appropriate section below.

For users with the @paston.co.uk email address.

The changes you will need to make are for your email program, your webmail and for your control panel (a new feature that allows you to customise your account).

For your email program.

You will need to change the name of your incoming mail server, your username and your password. Different email programs have different ways of accessing the account settings:

For Outlook Express – you would click on Tools/Accounts/Properties.
For Outlook – you would normally click on Tools/Email Accounts/Next/Change
For Mac Mail – click on Mail/Preferences/Accounts
For Thunderbird – click on Tools/Account Settings
For Entourage – click on Entourage/Account Settings

The name of the incoming mail server needs to be changed to mail.paston.co.uk
The User Name (sometimes called the Account Name or Login ID) needs to be changed to your email address in full and in lower case, for example johnsmith@paston.co.uk, and your password (which you will have been given separately).

If your outgoing mail server is set to either mail.paston.co.uk or smtp.paston.co.uk then there are two options:

  • If we provide you with your internet connection (either dialup or broadband) then the outgoing mail server should be smtp.eclipse.co.uk
  • If some other company provides your internet connection then ideally you should use their outgoing mail server (to prevent spamming).

If you subscribe to our “cleanmail” service then it advisable to use the “leave mail on server” option, set for 7 days as this will help with training (see under the Control Panel instructions).

For your webmail

The website that you need to visit is either http://webmail.yourdomainname if you have your own domain name or http://webmail.paston.co.uk if you use the paston.co.uk domain name for emails. You will be asked to enter your Username (which is your email address in full and in lower case, for example johnsmith@paston.co.uk or marysmith@yourdomainname), and your password (which you will have been given separately).

If any people sending you email are getting “bounces” containing the error message “mail quota exceeded” it means your mailbox on our service is full (by default you are given a 50MB mailbox).

To resolve this issue, you need to free up some space in your mailbox by deleting some of the older, larger, unwanted emails.

Log into your webmail account, click on the “Mail” menu option on the left, and do the following:

  1. Place a tick in the left-hand tickbox next to each mail that you wish to delete.
  2. Click on the Delete button in the horizontal menu. (Deleted messages will then appear with a line through them).
  3. Click on the Purge Deleted button also in the horizontal menu.
